For decades, Ontario’s nurses have warned successive governments about the system-wide consequences of underfunding. Long before the nursing shortage became a crisis, we were making recommendations about how to prevent it. Had governments listened and been proactive, the health-care system would be stronger, the pandemic would have been less disruptive, and most importantly, lives would have been saved. That’s why we’re urging people to tell Premier Ford that rebuilding public health-care must be a priority for his government, and we’re making specific recommendations for action.
